You may really like blogs and would love to start a blog to write some amazing articles, but how do you get started? Many of us have had experiences and been in situations in our lives and sharing these experiences in a blog is as easy as putting words together. But…making the blog captivating and catchy is where the work comes in. This article serves as a guide in writing a good blog article.
How to Write a Good Blog Article Share on X
An Outline
A good blog does not come just like that. Every blogger needs a rough idea to guide them. An outline does not have to be necessarily long or have a lot of details…it is just a simple guide to keep you on track. Yes, an outline is not there to control you, but to offer guidance. You could make adjustments to your writing if you see the need. For instance, the outline for this piece of writing is given below.
A Clear Subject
What are you writing about? There is a wide array of topics to write about from business, education, technology, entertainment, fashion, politics, sports, etc. Before choosing a topic, ask yourself:
- What are you passionate about?
- What are you richly experienced in?
- Is this something relatable? Do people show interest in it?
- Can I add on to any articles that I’ve written in this blog that will give more meaning to them?
You have to find a subject that does not bore you. If the writer is bored, the reader will also be bored. Keep in mind that the topic should be clear and one which you can write much about.
A Great Headline
The headline of the blog should be a showstopper. It must be catchy and thrilling to captivate the reader; otherwise, they will give up on the piece of writing way too early. Identify that one thing your blog aims to achieve and use it in the headline. This one thing must align with the content of the blog. It will capture the reader’s attention and encourage them to click and learn more.
The Introduction
Don’t repeat the title, keep it brief. Try to include what the article covers and why it’s important. Briefly touch on a hook or a problem and try to use a fact to validate the article.
A Hook or A Problem
More often than not, readers have closed a blog since it was not exciting, or their expectations were not met. For sure, you do not want this to happen to your blog. The following hacks could enable you to keep that reader hooked till the end…
- Using analogies enables the writer to take the subject and put it in a different context to drive a point home. Just be sure to get the analogies right.
- Present a fresh perspective. Bring out an unexpected angle of seeing things. This is not only exciting, but also informative. The reader will be curious to know more.
- Be witty. Sarcasm could make the reader hooked no matter how professional the blog may seem. A good laugh is great for the soul…right? You may show off your sense of humor as long as the joke is relevant.
- Use of questions. Check out the first sentence in this article; see what I did? Asking questions enables the writer to connect with the reader and ultimately, the reader would want to find out more.
A Solution
Be sure to describe the hook or problem and convince the reader that the issue needs to be solved. Offer solutions to the hook or problem. Each solution should be easily implemented and effective at solving the hook or problem.
The Bottomline
Blogging may seem difficult unless you give it a try. The good news is that it becomes easier with time and a lot of practice. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect!
